77th Golden Globe Awards - 5.1.2020 - Beverly Hills, USA
Highlights

The 77th Golden Globe Awards, honoring the best in film and American television of 2019, were broadcast live from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on January 5, 2020.

The nominees were announced on December 9, 2019, and Susan Kelechi Watson ´Marriage Story´ earned a leading six nominations. Tom Hanks and Ellen DeGeneres were announced as the recipients of the Cecil B. DeMille Award and the Carol Burnett Award, respectively.

Finaly during the 77th Golden Globe Award ceremony on the 5th of January 2020, Sony Pictures and Quentin Tarantino’s ´Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood´ ´Erase una vez ... en Hollywood´ cleaned up: the movie won Best Picture, Comedy or Musical; Quentin Tarantino took home gold for his screenplay; and Brad Pitt won for Best Supporting Actor !
Quentin Tarantino, spoke a little Hebrew as he accepted his award at a ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night. After he thanked his cast, he said, “And my wife who’s watching from Tel Aviv, who’s pregnant with my very first child,” then switched to Hebrew to say, “Toda, geveret,” Hebrew for “Thanks, Mrs.” Going back into English, he said, “I love you,” before walking off stage.

Warner Bros.’ biggest movie of 2019, Joker, picked up few wins, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and Best Score for composer Hildur Gudnadottir.

Universal Pictures’ 1917 took home the prize for Best Drama, while director Sam Mendes received the Best director award.

Netflix earned a total of 34 nominations in both TV and Film categories, however received only two awards/wins during the Golden Globe Ceremony 5.1. in Beverly Hills, California: Laura Dern was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her work in Marriage Story, while Olivia Coleman won Best Actress in a Drama Series for her work in The Crown.

There were several big surprises in these 77th edition of the Golden Globe awards: Disney earned three of the five nominations for Toy Story 4, Frozen 2, and The Lion King, but was than completely shut out of the animation category.
